I have been crocheting up a storm the last week or two in between appointments with Immigrations, animal swaps, appointments and life on the ranch! the weather has been a bit cold and soggy, perfect for staying in doors and doing fibre art work. I hand crocheted this lovely cashmere scarf out of a smidgen less than 2 ounces of cashmere. It is a little less than 2 ounces of cashmere as I have been trying to learn to knit with this same 2 ounces of cashmere for almost 2 years now. I finally gave up, tore it out for the 10th time and decided to crochet with it..so I did lose a tiny bit of the cashmere in a tangle or two. But it is as it is and I will NOT KNIT AGAIN!!!
It is so warm, lovely and soft and you have to keep checking to make certain you are still wearing it as it is so light you will forget it is there!!
I hand dyed it with Kool Aid. SIX packets if you can believe that one!! I started with 3 packets and it sucked up that colour totally so the remaining water was clear. I decided to try another 3 packets and the water was only slightly tinged with pink but that was OK as the scarf was now dyed evenly. The first time there were portions in the centre that had not had enough dye to match the rest of the scarf. I don’t generally like RED but this is a really pretty colour and I do like it!
You can view the listing in my Etsy store on Etsy.com here where there are more pictures and more description of how I made the scarf. Enjoy and don’t be afraid to post comments on what you think of it.
EtsyFAST did an interview of me. see it here you can even see pictures of some of my other work and more weavings and crochet!
