Moorit Shetland Bulky Handspun Textured Yarn. AR0108TAU.
I handspun Moorit Shetland wool into a 2 ply thick and thin textured art yarn. I love how the natural color and texture play so much together.
- Wool: Moorit Shetland wool

- Yarn weight: 7 Jumbo Bulky
- 20 yd skein
This yarn has so much texture and natural color. Shetland Moorit is a lovely natural colored brown wool. Moorit is the name of this particular red brown natural color that only certain Shetland Sheep have. It has a luscious and warm richness in color that can only come from the natural color the sheep grows itself. This Shetland Wool comes from a primitive sheep breed originally in the Shetland Islands. It is known for combining light weight with unusual durability. It has a large range of fineness.
I wove a peg loom rug that was about 5 feet long with this yarn. I also crocheted a funky headband hat for myself. I used approx 50 yds (depending on thickness of band and/or amount and length of fringe). I crocheted it in Tunisian crochet with one of my largest hooks, 20+ mm (my largest is a 22 mm). I sampled with several size hooks until I found the openness I wanted even though several sizes worked. The last photo is of the headband hat with its dreadlock fringe.
I can picture this woven into a shawl, scarf or a wall hanging. Use it as the main yarn in your piece or as an edging or accent for effect. It is a textured art yarn that is wonderful for textured weaving.
Recommended size 17+ knitting needle and size Q+ crochet hook for a more open flowing stitch and drape. The yarn has been set in a hot wash and hung unweighted to dry.
Hand wash cold with (LIKE) similar colors. Hang or lay flat to dry.
