I bought Chocolate Velvet coffee beans yesterday, ground them today and perked. I loved them. I may be a new addict!! I have never been able to handle the real coffee that DH makes as it is too strong and gags me. Now I can make my own and not resort to that instant general foods crap. I am so excited. I can’t decide if it is really sad that it takes so little to excite me??
Chaz is working on batch 1 of Truffles. doing and experiment and I am the guinea PIG that gets to eat them all!! 1 batch with the original Rich Tea Biscuits and 1 batch with the new biscuits that we have been using stateside. both of these will be Cherry brandy batches so that we can compare them. Third batch is my new flavor of the Chamborg!
Made Chaz give me a truffle that was not even pressed out in a paper cup, solidified, cooled or anything. JUST fresh made raw! he said that was the height of impatience. hmmm…would he say impatience or greed if I ask for a second?
I am trying to save on paper cases. Chaz keeps saying we have plenty but I think that every penny counts!!
It’s called product sampling. I call it “Quality Control”.. Charlie calls it “get your hands out of there and wait till they’re ready dammit”
Chaz just finished mixing up the batch of truffles by hand, so his hands were covered with truffles. I, being the helpful wife that I am, volunteered to LICK his fingers clean. He let me while mumbling something about if he had known that I was going to do that he would have used something other than the “wooden spoon” to stir the batch! hmmm…
We just returned home after driving 350 miles from the East to the West side of the Continental Divide, over Monarch Pass to Cimmaron, Colorado. Monarch Pass 11, 200+ ft. great clear air up there, just not much of it!!
Spots and Speck have arrived. Two new doelings that are 75-93% Boer to add to my dairy goat herd. Traded Braveheart, a registered pure bred Nubian Buck for them. They are nice little does!
We put a ham shank on the wood stove in our brand new cast iron Dutch oven. Never had one of these before and wow was that ham big. Told hubby that I figured out what was wrong with this being Christmas besides NOT having a tree.
We have no truffles. They have all been eaten. so DH is going to finish putting the Sno Wovel together and than going to make truffles. yay!!
Ham was wonderful however we may be eating it for 2 weeks as what we ate only made a tiny bit of space for a couple of carrots and maybe a parsnip today. HA! just put the entire dutch oven into the fridge in the barn, which will have probably froze it, so now going to reheat it on the stove in the oven with some veggies. there was NO room for veggies yesterday.
Wove my first two hats on the loom last night. I followed a pattern in a book, totally messed it up and did it wrong according to the pattern but I think I have created a new Melisa hat.
What the heck do you call this style of hat??? I need help deciding what to call this New Screwed up Melisa style hat. I think I will call it the Flowing Mane Hat. I think they may be a hit??!!
Shearing an angora goat today, along with cleaning the rabbit cages. Than inside to spin while DH makes more Cherry Brandy Truffles!!
I thought I could shear the goat by hand. Guess that is what I get for thinking. I used to shear him by hand. However his fleece was matted, his penis was infected and his feet were so over grown they didn’t look like feet and they were deforrmed. I feel bad for him.
Charlie said that things are looking up for him! After the worst haircut in Christendom, having his toenails cut until he bled, and having acid poured on his willie (peroxide) things have GOT to get better!!
I stink like lanolin. haha I have to go clean all the rabbit cages. Afterward, EVERYTHNG on me is going in the washer..yuk!!
One hot shower later, all new clean clothes and fuzzy sweats, veggie lasagna and cabin back up to 75 degrees and rising. gotta love that oven. going to watch some tv and spin if I can lift my arms.
Sami, the Angora Goat, just returned to the ranch last night. I sold him about 1.5 years ago.
I have not had any fiber hoof animals on the ranch for at least 6 months. He is a wether so we won’t have any reproduction. Look for Raw Mohair fleece to be available in the shop again soon. I have to shear him today!!
I have been up really late or was it early?? Learning a new weave technique on my Rigid Heddle Loom. Leno Lace!! I love it.
I searched You Tube online to see a short demonstration and followed my book and taught myself how to do Leno Lace 1:1.
What do you think??
