What are Slow Therapy and Slow Crafting?

What are Slow Therapies? Slow Crafting? You have heard of Slow Food or Slow Clothes? Similar thought pattern. Handmade and Slow Crafted.

I was emailing with someone today that I have thought of as a friend for years. Originally I met her in a business situation but quickly began to enjoy her autheticity in the oddly fake marketing world of hustle culture. She was the worker bee behind the queen bee. The one that got crap done and the real life blood behind the face. You know what I mean? Eventually, she left the hive and moved on. For a while she was out on her own, which was the time I enjoyed her insights the most. Than of course 2020 came, the pandemic hit and like many others she disappeared for her own sanity. Recently re connecting, has me thinking about stuff.

My Crystal Singing Bowls, Handpans and music for Sound Healing is indeed a Slow Therapy. Slowing your breath, quieting your mind as you lean into the repetitive and slowing music helps you let that stress go. Stress and hurry have no place in Sound Therapy.  I have played music for over 50 years. That is slow and not part of hustle culture.

I grow my Lavender and Herbs and distill for hydrosols and essential oils.  I make Handcrafted Herbal Oils. One to three month process infusing whole plants into oil each year after the harvest of growing season. Growing plants, distillation and handcrafted oils are slow processes for a handcrafted product when complete. The actual process and seasonality of it is a slow process. Nature will not be hurried.

My Gardens have taught me seasonal living, slower processes, and are attempting to teach me patience. Ha!

Dried flowers, fresh flowers, and meditative therapeutic expierences.  “Slow Down” nature screams at me. Sometimes I even listen. Before this last year, I did not even hear or notice much.

Holistic Therapy appointments as an individual, a couple or small groups of three or four is how I prefer to help people. Introducing others to the magical world here at Alba Ranch in Slow Groups.

Aromatherapy with the products I create and expierences at Alba Ranch. Sound Therapy, Reiki, Crystal Healing and Bach Flower Remedy sessions are all slow therapies. Nature Therapy, Botanical Walks and soon to offer Forest Therapy all focus on the Gardens and Trails here at Alba Ranch. All of these offer the opportunity to slow down, listen to Nature around you, and feel the Slow Rythms beneath your feet in the land.

Slow Therapies.  My products never fit the hustle culture of mass marketing.  I learned things before the pandemic in that era of marketing but it was never really me. I felt guilty for years because I just couldn’t buy into all that hype. I felt like there was something wrong with me because I just rebelled deep inside my soul.

I started listening and learning but leaving the rest that did not fit. Keep things minimal with what works. Ignore the rest of the fast paced shiny marketing world. Look inside for that slow rhythm and that exhale of breath.

I despise that push for constant social media and the big launches creating false scarcity.  I enjoy to find small stores and artists creating products by hand. I do not buy into the empty storefront and release of products all at once launch cycle. All of that has always irritated me to no end. The fakeness and lies of it.  I am much more about being authentic. I want to see people face to face and build a relationship. Or email or messages if that person can’t do face to face. I create products and expierences and share them as I create them.

Is that how you feel today? It is OK to want to slow down. Breathe. Exhale and listen. Self care is essential. You can choose it or your body will choose it for you. Isn’t it better to choose to slow for a time on a regular basis and listen to Nature around you? Back to Nature and Listen to the Season.
